Testimonials
I’ve been with David in other locations. I’m beyond excited for his new adventure. I can’t wait to be treated the way he knows best. Professionalism and CARE.

Came in with pain in my right lower leg from running that occured over time to a point where I couldn't run anymore. David diagnosed me with right posterior tibial tendinitis and provided treatment with messaging the leg, stretches, and some strength work. If you are looking for a PT that would actually care and connect with patients, no matter that severity of the injury, CURA is the place to go! Caring for the person is their number 1 priority.

Like others, I've followed David through two previous locations and was thrilled to hear that he finally opened his own practice. I'm an old guy, but physically very active, and while I'm sure I would also benefit from a variety of other forms of PT, my reason for coming to David initially--and since-- has been a recurring, but very occasional case of BPPV, what most of us simply call vertigo. I spend a lot of time on bicycles and horses in the mountains, and underwater diving, so keeping my occasional. bouts of vertigo under control is a priority. The treatments are relatively simple, and some David has trained me to do myself, but finding someone who is knowledgeable about the causes, and up to date with therapies has made a huge difference for me. Beyond that, though, David is the most personable, genuinely caring guy I've ever come across in the PT environment. I've had LOTS of PT for various other maladies, and most folks just go through the motions. Not David. I watch him with other clients, and he treats everyone as a unique individual with specific needs requiring treatment unique to their circumstance. His reviews reflect how his clients value his services, and I'm happy to add mine!

Since 2019, i’ve struggled with hip and back pain. After seeing multiple doctors, I recieved my true diagnosis and underwent major hip reconstruction. I knew it was time for a PT that wanted me to dance again, since past PT’s had recommended I consider a new sport. I remember meeting David before surgery telling him how terrified I was that I would never be able to turn, leap, and express my emotion through my movement again. His response was “Do not worry. We will get you back.” David told me I would dance again. Post surgery sucked, but I was always excited to go to physical therapy. David never failed to make me laugh, even while I was unable to do much with my left leg for 2 months. He helped me take my first few steps without crutches, he was patient when I told him I was too scared to put all my weight on my left leg. He told me it was okay to be scared, and that he will always be here to help me through it. When I told him I was feeling new pain, he listened and addressed it. He implemented dance technique into my rehab (because he is also a dancer!), and committed to rebuilding my trust in my new hip after it had given me so much pain. I always hated when past PT’s would send me to another part in the clinic to do my exercises while they worked with their next patient. What’s the point of going to physical therapy if you can do the exercises yourself? Before his next patient arrives, he ensures I understand how to do the given exercises. Even when David is working with his next patient, he still pays attention to me. This includes him glancing over and seeing me dip in my side planks and saying “Girl get that hip up!”. He always pushes me to do my best. When I was re-learning how to do pliés with correct alignment in my hips, he always caught and corrected the little movements that created possibilities for injury. When something didn’t feel right in an exercise, he always found the problem and provided a tip or alternative. I can’t explain his attention to detail with everything. David got me back to the sport I love. I am happy to be dancing all the time again, even with 5 screws in my hip. If pain ever arises, David provides me with exercises and tips to help improve/manage the pain. David taught me to cherish and take care of my body so it can perform for me while I am on stage. What’s different about David compared to other PT’s is that he cares about you as a whole and your true personal goals: getting you back to your ideal self and more. It’s not about what makes him more money, what is easiest, what gets him home fastest that day, or what “seems” like a good course of treatment. He designs everyone’s treatment plan to be curated for them. I am so lucky to have him as my PT, and to recommend him to anyone looking for a phenomenal physical therapist. I included my 1 year post L Periacetabular Osteotomy XRAY, and some recent raw videos of me doing what I love 🙂

Every visit I have had at Cura and with David Rivera has been a wonderful experience. David listens to his patients and creates a well informed plan of action based on the client’s needs for that day. Every visit is different; however, David still manages to target the specific areas that are causing an issue. My plantar fasciitis has gotten much better and I am able to go about my daily life pain free. I owe that to CURA and David. I highly recommend this practice!

David has done physical therapy on myself and multiple family members over the years with nothing but amazing results. He does a great job tailoring a program to each person and their goals and problems as he was able to rehab my back / core to get me back to work / life, rehab my older father after an injury to help him maintain his health, and rehab my younger brother to get back to playing high level baseball. Regardless of your injury I would highly recommend David and his team!

CURA Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine has a warm and welcoming environment as soon as you walk through the door. I am an active gym enthusiast, doing everything from power and olympic lifting, to circuit training 6 days a week. Earlier this year I incorporated running into my workout program to train for a marathon. While training, I encountered some issues and ended up being diagnosed with a partial hip labral tear and a partial gluteus medius tear through an MRI. My goal of running my first marathon came to an end. I began my physical therapy journey with David, where he has created a safe and healthy plan that will put me back on the road to reach my goals. ln addition to this plan, David is giving me some at home strength and stretching exercises that will assist me in my recovery now, as well as set me up for long term success. David is easy to work with and I have enjoyed our conversations and information sharing while the PT is in progress. He is genuinely interested in your past history and goals so that he has all of the information he needs to treat you successfully. I highly recommend David to anyone that is looking for a personalized physical therapy plan, and one that is not governed by a standard all for one approach for YOUR personal road to recovery.
